This short guide explains how contractor holiday pay works, including how it accrues and how it is paid when you take time off. Download the PDF for a clear, straightforward overview.
You Build Holiday Pay As You Work
For every £100 you earn, £14.54 is saved as holiday pay. This shows on your payslip as 'Holiday Accrued'.
When You Take Holiday
You are paid from your holiday balance. If the balance doesn’t fully cover the time off, the remaining time is unpaid. You never owe holiday back.
Example
If you have £200 accrued and a week off costs £350: • £200 is paid as holiday pay • £150 is unpaid time off
Key Things to Remember
• Holiday accrues based on earnings • Balance is shown on your payslip • You only get paid holiday you've already earned
